MENTAL WELLBEING AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

As part of our Lifestyle Management Programme we introduce learners to a healthy lifestyle, confidence, nutrition and exercise, enabling them to make the right life choices.

MOTIVATION AND LEADERSHIP

Supporting people to make better informed life choices
Our informal sessions are designed to help students understand and make sense of their emotions and recognise that they can be in control and take responsibility of their thoughts and behaviour whilst at the same time implementing new methods of managing themselves.

PHYSICAL FITNESS AND EXERCISE

Headed by an Ex-Military Instructor and world class triathlon coach, individuals are advised on light exercise and shown how being active can boost self-esteem, mood and make a happier life.
In our Physical Wellbeing Workshops individuals are informed regarding the importance of nutrition and how what you eat can have a positive or negative effect on a healthy lifestyle.

Alternatively we can accommodate sporting clubs with pre season, during season and specific challenges bespoke to their needs and levels. Our challenging programmes will challenge the athlete both physically and mentally in preparation to achieve their full potential.

NUTRITION AND A HEALTHY PLATE

Our workshops highlight the different types of food that make up our diet, and show the proportions we should eat them in to have a healthy, balanced diet.
Eating healthily is about eating the right amount of food for your energy needs. In England, a growing number of people are either overweight or obese. This means many of us are eating more than we need, and should eat and drink fewer calories to lose weight.

Different sports require different diet requirements, our nutrition and health support directly your physical fitness and exercise needs including our challenges.

GUIDANCE

All our Programmes adhere to The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) national guidance and best practice. NICE’s role is to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services. They do this by: Producing evidence based guidance and advice for health, public health and social care practitioners.

Athlete Performance

Along with being in top physical condition, a focused attitude is vital for high performance in sport. For Players/Athletes who are already in peak physical condition, gaining the edge can be more about applying a positive mind set and being mentally stronger than their opponent.

Our coaching will:
•    Improve focus and deal with distractions
•    Grow confidence in athletes who have doubts
•    Install a healthy belief and identify irrational thoughts
•    Improve motivation for optimal performance
•    Develop confidence in athlete’s ability

Aspects of personality are key to results linked to performance, this area always asks the question are we born with the traits which allow us to be successful or do we develop personality based on our life experiences. All sports people have different personalities which makes them successful in their chosen environment or sport.

Do you recognise these characteristics in your players, manager, club or staff and volunteers

Personality needing to achieve will display:

•    Sense of pride from competing
•    Perseverance
•    Quick completion of task
•    Welcome feedback
•    Optimism
•    Confidence
•    Take responsibility for their actions
•    Attribute performance to internal factors (diet, prep routines, mindset)
•    Take risks and face challenges
•    Enjoy performing in front of others and being evaluated
•    Cope with failure as it is seen as a learning experience

ctim2

Personality needing to avoid failure will display:

Attempt to avoid shame and humiliation
•    Worry about failure
•    Avoid situations with a 50/50 chance of success
•    Choose tasks which are very easy or very hard
•    Dislike personal feedback
•    Attribute performance to external factors (weather, referee, crowd, pitch/ hall/ ring)
•    Performance will deteriorate when being evaluated
•    Give up easy, blame someone else, something else

Team sports need to mix and manage different personalities to achieve success, our one to one coaching supports the team ethos whilst developing a system to work with these personalities.
